What kind of room will the projector and screen be in? The size of the room or, more importantly, how far back will you be sitting from the screen will determine what size screen you should get. Also, the ambient light and room color is an important factor to getting the best screen image. 

 

Scenerio #1: If you have no or low lights with good lighting control, like in a dedicated home theater room, you will want to get a White Screen Material. White screens are best in these cinema like movie conditions. You will get the best bright whites and vivid color accuracy.

 

Scenerio #2: If you have a medium or high brightness room with sun or lamp lighting then you will want to consider a Gray Screen Material. Gray screens are better for absorbing unwanted light into the screen creating darker black levels and a higher contrast. 

 

Scenerio #3: The color of your walls, ceiling and flooring can also be an important factor because of the amount of light reflecting off these surfaces will impact your video image on the screen. Rooms that are white or have light colors might be best using a gray screen because of the amount of light reflected off these surfaces back into the screen. Gray Screens are better for absorbing unwanted reflected light bouncing off the walls and ceiling back into the screen creating darker black levels and a higher contrast.

Tribal Screens are only sold in three sizes - 92" , 100" and 106" HDTV 16:9 aspect ratio screens. These sizes optimize the varying lumen outputs on home theater projectors. We do not sell 'oversized' screens that will not perform well with under powered projectors. We want to guarantee you get a bright crisp video image with any projector you choose.

As a general rule of thumb you should sit 10' feet back from a 92" screen, 11' feet back from a 100" screen and 12" back from a 106" screen.  These distances will make it feel like you are sitting in the middle aisle of a movie theater which is the most comfortable for extended viewing.
